Judge the album cover

Lightning stikes, not once...

not twice...

...but three times!

At the top is Great White's Shot in the dark from 1986. Next is Venom's Calm before the storm from 1987. Last is Fastway's Waiting for the roar from 1986.

However are any of the covers any good?

What do you think?

The Great White One's ok. I think a digital album cover with real lightning would look pretty cool.

I liked Fastway's best because I like the lightning over the water. Great White's was lame, because the lightning looks so cheesey, but that really fits Great White pretty well I guess. I'm sure the cover is no worse than the album (although I don't have that one).

I've always loved Venom's logo. But of these three, I actually like the simplicity of Great White's.

But I'll take Ride the Lightning over all of them.

Venom's is by far, the worst of the bunch. I really like Great White's cover and Fastway's is pretty cool to.

I like Fastaway's. It has a more picturesque feel. The other's are kinda plain.

Ouch. Great White's is proof of what a cheesy artist can do with a half-baked idea. Venom's is just boring, and what's with the red border and the stupid frame around the image? Fastway's is the best of the bunch, but a good photo doesn't necessarily translate into a good album cover.

I like the Fastway cover the best.

"Possessed" was Venom's last halfway decent album (well, not really). You forgot "Christcrusher" by Thy Serpent, by the way.

They're not great, but I like the Fastway cover best. The 2nd one is awful.

Captain Corky-I think lightning could be done better, but most people seem to have better ideas for covers.

bob-The Great White cover is better than the music on the album.

David-I like the lightning on Ride the lightning, but the electric chair is okay.

axe man-I like the Fastway one too.

dpth-I think it's no easy to make lightning that interesting.

Chuck-Fastway were never known for great album covers.

hard rock hideout-I agree.

dschalek-Possessed was the one I had a lot of problems with. I like everything through At war with satan and not a whole lot after that. I don't know Thy Serpant.

On my watch-I surprised so many bands picked that same topic for their covers.

beckeye-I don't think any of them are great either.

Fastway's is the best but god, that album sucked, and so did Shot in the Dark. Lightning strikes twice there!

ray-I agree. As far as music goes Venom had the best of the three, but it was weak for Venom.

Yep, you're right as well, Mark. Remember how we used to rip on that Fastway album... 'cause I'm waiting for the snore... zzzz zzzzzzzz....'

Great Whites, 'Shot in the Dark' was good. But as far as lightning goes, I will stick to Metallica's 'Ride the Lightning.' Old Sparky never looked so good.
